Who has had the
biggest Influence on your Career?
Probably my dad
and Garfield Harrison, I’m sure there are others but
too many to mention just a few, and I wouldn’t want
them to get offended by me not mentioning them but
somebody else got a mention…..you know how people
are?
What is your most
memorable Cricketing moment?
Its kinda strange
actually, at least my wife tells me it is!! I
remember everything about cricket. I could tell you
about shots or catches or how I got him out 5 years
ago, but I couldn’t tell you what I had for dinner 2
nights ago!? Probably best memories are of the
trophies and successes that I’ve enjoyed over the
years going right back to a very successful youth
side that we were involved in.
What is your
funniest Cricketing moment?
There are a few,
I remember being told a joke while waiting to go
into bat when playing a tournament in Bermuda.
There was about 5 of us and when the punchline was
delivered the hysterics and cackles of those
involved actually stopped play on the field. Its
one of those jokes that you laugh so hard that your
head actually throbs with pain. And you can’t wait
to tell everybody when you get home…..and when you
do they look at you with disgust that you made them
wait so long for something so crap!
In 2006 we were
introduced to a game called ‘SPOONS’ for those rainy
days stuck in the pavilion watching the water. Its
1st outing was at a game against
Glendermott at their place. What insued was what
can only be described as a brutal assault on the
skipper. Those that were there will never forget
it!
Also any
conversation with Ijaz immediately after he’s been
dismissed, either the ball was too soft or it hit a
divot or I didn’t know he was standing there…..pure
legend.
On top of that,
Simon Stokes’s frustrations are also great value, a
double footed stamp towards the end of a league game
against Bangor at the end of the 2006 season was
priceless.
Who is your
favourite International Cricketer, and why?
Richie
Richardson, can’t give you an explanation as to
why. He just always has been.
If you didn’t
play Cricket, what would you do instead?
Play for Lurgan!??
Within WCC who is
your Nemesis and who is your bunny? (i.e. who always
gets you out and whom do you always get out?)
Simon Stokes – I
know he doesn’t bat that often in the nets but I
reckon I haven’t got him out in about 10 years, and
he would snick me out at least once a week. For the
same reason as Kyle McCallen joined us in 2005, so
he wouldn’t have to play against Peter Hanna
anymore, is the same reason I will never play for
anybody else. I reckon Stoker would haunt me…….
Andrew Cousins is
my bunny – just bowl it straight……..
